Mt. Fuji 2026: Opening July 1 (WED)

This season, the mountain will be open from July 1st to September 10th. The gates open at 3:00 AM, and entry is not permitted after 2:00 PM. There is usually a 4,000 yen toll to enter the mountain, and it is said that it takes 5 hours to climb up and 4 hours to descend, even for someone in good physical condition.

The 4000 yen toll can only be booked with advance payment. While reservations are possible on the day, tickets will not be issued if the number of reservations exceeds the limit, so it is best to book well in advance. Reservation Link is hare. Furthermore, you must agree to all restrictions when making a reservation in advance.

To avoid congestion on the Fuji Subaru Line leading to the 5th station of Mt. Fuji and to protect the environment by preventing tree dieback caused by vehicle exhaust fumes, private cars will be restricted from 6:00 PM on Friday, July 3, 2026 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2026, and it will only be able to access the Yoshida entrance to the 5th station of Mt. Fuji by taxi or bus from the base of the mountain or Green-plated vehicles from Tokyo such as Premium Airport Shuttle. It usually takes two hours to get from Tokyo to the 5th station of Mount Fuji.

  2. Please prepare cold-weather clothing, separate rain gears, and appropriate footwear for climbing. Fare and tolls are not refundable if you’re stopped by a security guard at the entrance to the mountain.
  3. Fare (and tolls) are not refundable even if the weather goes bad or cancelled by you within 24 hours to the pickup time because of the bad weather.
  4. Additional charge may take place if you are coming down to a different entrance such as Shizuoka side.
